Sign Language

I've been interested in sign language for years now, although I'm nowhere near fluent in it.  I've taken great ASL classes at Ohlone College.

Shakespeare

My favorite places to see Shakespeare plays are
Oregon Shakespeare Festival
Shakespeare Santa Cruz
Royal Shakespeare Company
Want to read the the plays?  Try MIT.

Translating German Television Sci-Fi

No, really! A friend introduced me to Raumpatrouille last year, and I have been having fun translating the scripts from German to English and learning how to use subtitling tools to bring the adventures of the Spaceship Orion to native speakers of English.

Movies

I used to know a lot about movies -- who directed what, who played whom.  Now, however, I no longer know any of those things because the Internet Movie Database remembers it all for me.  Whew!

19th Century novels

For a long novel to keep a person busy for hours on end, a novel that keeps entertaining through even the most tiresome cold, there's nothing like an author from the 18th or 19th century.
Anthony Trollope
Elizabeth Gaskill
Jane Austen
Rudyard Kipling
Alexandre Dumas (père)
Emily Eden

Word games & board games & card games

The following games keep me interested, no matter how many times I play (or lose) them:

Big Boggle
Settlers of Catan
Fluxx
Scotland Yard
Gang of Four
Scrabble®
Jitters
Taboo
Lost Cities
Wizard

Sewing

I adore lightweight tropical prints and am slowly making my way through a backlog of fabric to create beautiful shirts.

Tie Dye

Tie-dye is great!  It's like origami, with the addition of messy paints.  I may someday put pages from my portfolio and book in progress here.
